How to check current recalls and outbreak notices
Each country publishes its own recall and outbreak notices. The pages below are the official places to check, and none of them claims to list every recall.
- In the United States, FDA lists recalls drawn from press releases and public notices, searchable by product type. FDA says not all recalls have press releases or are posted on the page, and items are archived after three years.1
- CDC publishes notices for selected multistate outbreak investigations and marks them as over when the investigation closes, as with its 2024 notice on Listeria and meats sliced at delis.5
- In Australia, Food Standards Australia New Zealand says it works with food businesses and regulators to coordinate recall responses and inform consumers, and offers recall alert subscriptions.2
- In Canada, the Government of Canada recalls and safety alerts database covers food and offers email alerts and RSS feeds.3
- In the European Union, ECDC and EFSA publish rapid outbreak assessments for multi-country outbreaks, which summarise control measures such as recalls, withdrawals and actions by national authorities.4
